Year 9s shine at Go4SET celebration day
Year 9 students present their sustainable railway station design at Go4SET celebration day.
Will, Priscilla, Alex, Luca and Finn have been working on their railway station project for the last four months.
Their brief was to design a new sustainable railway station for Portishead. The students worked together as a team to design the station and create a 3D computer model of the station and were mentored through this process by an engineer from D,E&S (Ministry of Defence) The station design was then written up as a formal report and presented to a team of industry assessors at the celebration day.
The students received amazing feedback about the high quality of both their design, presentation skills and computer modelling skills. One assessor remarked that he wished his graduate engineers could produce such good computer models!
The students will all now achieve a British Science Association Silver Crest award in recognition of the quality of their work.
Our thanks go to the Engineering Trust and Defence, Equipment and Support (Ministry of Defence).
