Year 10s plan for a Green Future
Students design ideas for a more sustainable world at University of the West of England event
Fifteen Year 10 students shared their ideas for a more sustainable future at the ‘Your Green Future’ event at the University of the West of England.
Through a series of workshops they were challenged to develop solutions for a more sustainable world. From creating a sustainable energy plan for Snowdonia National Park; ideas for retail items fit for 2027; thoughts on how to minimise a local organisation’s real life waste issue; to thinking like planners and architects to plan a sustainable future city they were guided by mentors from a wide range of businesses including Rolls Royce, Spirax Sarco, the Forestry Commission, Jaguar Land Rover and DEFRA.
They also learnt how to lead business pitch innovations based on real industry developments to teams of student ‘Dragons’ and found out about the diverse career paths for anyone interested in organisations that work to make our future world more sustainable.
