9 Girls Rounders Tournament
All NS schools turn out for girls rounders competition
In what was probably the only sunny day of rainy and blustery week, the year nine N. Somerset rounders tournament took place at Priory school, organised by ourselves St Kath’s. Year 10, Bo Marshall took charge of organising and coordinating the results of the competition, whilst the year nine team took part in the pool games.
The first game was against Sidcot, in extremely windy conditions. Both teams struggled with the wind, however it was the St Kath’s side that seem to suffer more with throws going astray and the Sidcot team taking advantage. The Sidcot tally soon mounted up and in their innings they managed to overcome the conditions with some fast paced throws to counteract the wind.
They played further games against Clevedon and Priory A, (Who were the eventual victors of the entire tournament) and continued to improve both in the building and in their batting. Although they were without a win, the fielding improved, with Priscilla accurate as bowlers and some effective stops at post 3 by Lauren Hooper.
Notably Izzy Fielden scored a number of rounders to bolster the St Kath’s side, Priscilla bowled well to limit the opposition’s chances and the link between backstop Ruby Webber and second post Izzy continued to develop, whilst Grace Brown and Ellie McCarthy made some important stops in the deep.
Overall a great day of rounders but a disappointing set of results for the St Kath’s side, their next fixture is against Nailsea next week where they are hopeful of a victory.
